Saturday was a heck of a day. It was the first AfricaBeta conference and if we do say so ourselves, it was pretty lit, thanks to this year’s sponsor, WeChat and our other partners.
At this year’s event, the focus was on mobile technology and instant messaging, and how both are moving into business and all other aspects of our lives.
We had three astounding experts – Adia Sowho, Seyi Taylor and Etop Ikpe – speak to this, and the WeChat WA regional manager, Idemudia Dima-Okojie also expounded on the possibilities WeChat is primed to enable with African tech-enabled businesses.
If you missed the event, couldn’t join our live stream or maybe you were at the event, even followed the live stream, but are just really into slides, here is a roundup of all the presentations from the event:
The event started off with a primer from the co-founder of Big Cabal Media, the publishers of TechCabal, Seyi Taylor:
Etop Ikpe stepped up later to speak on social commerce and converting “likes” to “buys”:
Idemudia Dima-Okojie gave an expanded introduction to WeChat:
And a tweet that intelligently summarizes Adia Sowho’s speech on the telcos’ perspective on instant messaging:
'When your driver says an app is making him go on the internet, you know you've hit a gold mine''- Adia Sowho #Africabeta #WeChatBeta
