Mobile subscribers in Nigeria are all too familiar with the constant barrage of annoying and misleading SMS from all major telcos. Now there’s an app that promises to help you get rid of all those annoying spam SMS. It’s called Binga.
Binga is a very basic and lightweight app that focuses on doing one thing and one thing only – prevent unwanted SMS from proliferating your inbox. Binga achieves this by scanning incoming messages for distinguishing spam signature. The developers of Binga promise no hanky panky with users’private data.
So far, it looks like the app works (or maybe it doesn’t?) – I’m yet to receive any spam SMS since installation. However the Binga counter also shows that no spam SMS has entered so, I’m a little confused.
My spam history is equally empty so….. Perhaps I should give the app a little more time.
Binga is available for download via the Google Play Store. Binga is free to download but is ad-supported (the irony). If the app is half as good as it claims to be, I’m willing to bet lots of folks wouldn’t mind paying off those ads.
Now can someone please build an app to block those equally annoying marketing robo calls?
