South Africa will host the first bitcoin conference in Africa.
The Bitcoin Africa Conference is targeted at investors, startups and bitcoin enthusiasts in Africa. The focus of the conference is to show African entrepreneurs the potentials of adopting the cryptocurrency.
The conference will also discuss issues ranging from how the cryptocurrency can be integrated as payment options for entrepreneurs, and also the implications of its adoption in Africa.
The event is set to take place at Atlantic Imbizo Conference and Function Studio, Cape Town on the 16th and 17th April 2015.
According to the organisers, “ The Bitcoin Africa Conference will bring together merchants, investors, venture capitalists, start-ups and Bitcoin enthusiasts who are all looking to move Bitcoin forward in Africa.”
Bitcoin holds a good number of possibilities for Africans, an example is Kenya’s Bitpesa which charges 3% for financial transactions from London to Nairobi as against traditional banking institutions that charge between 9% to 20% .
