South Africa-based incubator, Cortex has announced it will host a 72-hour hackathon for female software developers.
Themed, Solving Humanity’s Problems, the hackathon will have female developers build child development solutions, rural women’s solutions, women in business solutions and the likes.
Participants will be paired in teams of two to five members to create technological solutions to be presented before a panel of judges. Participants will vie for a R150,000 ($11,000) prize.
“The hackathon is about assembling women software developers or hackers from South Africa and other African countries to unite in solving humanity’s problems specifically problems affecting women through technology,” the organisers said.
The hackathon will hold from 25 to 27 August, 2015. Registration will close on the 20th of August 2015.
