Zimbabwean mobile operator Econet Wireless will be launching a zero-rated e-learning product called Ruzivo Digital Learning, Techzim reports.
In its initial phase, Ruzivo will focus on primary school children, offering learning material specific to the Zimbabwean curriculum. The programme has been endorsed by the Curriculum Development Unit at Zimbabwe’s Ministry of Primary and Secondary Education.
Speaking at the launch, Econet Wireless CEO Mr Douglas Mboweni said that Ruzivo represents an investment in the education of Zimbabwe’s children.
“Ruzivo offers affordable access to quality education for learners”, he added. “We have developed Ruzivo as a low cost-high quality education model which is accessible across the country”.
Ruzivo contains locally developed academic content including interactive lessons, exercises and tests. The packages can be used both in the classroom for lessons and at home for revisions and once a child gets started, Ruzivo will track their progress in all exercises and tests.
The learning experience is delivered through interactive exercises and quizzes.
Ruivo is a joint venture between Econet and the Higher Life Foundation, a philanthropic outfit dedicated to advancing education in Zimbabwe.
Users will need to create an account in order to sign up for the service, which costs $2 a month for unlimited access to learning material for Mathematics, Science and English.
