  • Game Labs is hosting G3, a mobile game developer meetup on April 20

I’m going to attend the G3 Mobile Game Developer meetup at 6:00PM on April 20, at Whitespace in Ikoyi, Lagos. The copy on their Eventbrite page says that programmers, publishers, illustrators, sound engineers and everyone else in the industry are invited to take part in a new product showcase, gaming challenge (FIFA, please), shared learning and networking.

    Gamedev

I’ve searched for a while for a solid game developer community in Nigeria (Africa). I even started a thread on Radar last year, about the number (or the lack thereof) of video game developers in this part of the world. Why? First, because I’m all too aware of the value that can be gleaned from a healthy gaming industry. Second, because I moonlight as a game score composer/sound designer, and I want to get myself plugged into the space. And finally because I like to watch smart people build cool shit.

I can’t tell right now, if this is the game dev community I’ve been searching for, but I’m going to find out on April 20. So. If you’d like to join us (or meet me in person), you can get the details/register on the Eventbrite page. See you there?
